How to do research on a cosmetic surgeon?

A lot of people ask us for recommendations on cosmetic surgeons. That is a good thing since doing research prior to picking a surgeon is critical. The best way to find a good surgeon, though, is to ask someone you can trust. It can be a resource like BeautyNova or any of the associations of plastic surgeons or a friend/family member you can trust. I am very skeptical of those websites that first take your name, telephone number, and email address (without providing any information about who they are and who is behind them). These websites are essentially lead providers for surgeons who then try to do a hard sell over the phone. In my opinion, it is best to first do your own research before you even talk to a doctor or a staff member of a clinic.

First, as a matter of policy, we do not recommend any surgeon since we do not have the resources to evaluate each one of them. That is why it is important that you do your own research before picking the one that is right for you.
Second, do not pick a surgeon simply because she or he is physically close to you or is less expensive. The best surgeon for your procedure may be thousands of miles away or more expensive than your budget. Trust me, the extra cost is worth it, or if you cannot afford to, save some more and then have the surgery done.
Finally, if you are in doubt, wait. Do more research. Get another opinion. You won’t regret the extra time spent.
