Are they for you?  What are the risks?  What to expect?

However, some of the recent advancements made in lasers have made it possible to have more control over the technology that allows a plastic surgeon to produce better results and reduce the recovery time. So where are lasers being used these days? All the way in the operating room to treating skin, removing unwanted body hair, and eliminating facial and leg veins.  “New lasers allow more energy to be released into the skin so that the overall treatment is more effective with fewer side effects," says Dr. Barry DiBernardo, who practices in Montclair, NJ, and is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) Nonsurgical Procedure Committee. 

Laser treatments are often part of a comprehensive approach to facial rejuvenation. In most cases, laser procedures are done in conjunction with another cosmetic operation, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery. Skin care maintenance can also be prescribed to compliment the laser procedure if the surgeon determines that it would produce better results.
