Breast augmentation procedure

Small implants become more popular

When breast implants first became popular in the 1960's and 1970's, the trend for breasts was large, taut, and high. Not many people stopped to think that real breasts were not like that. As most people know, it is extremely rare for a slim woman to have big breasts, but no one stopped to think so much.

Breast augmentation is still popular not only because women find that have shapely breasts gives them the confidence they need to go ahead in life, but also because of the improvements in technology. The procedures are much safer, surgery and recovery periods are short, scars are minimal, and surgery is more affordable, if you can go abroad to a country where the cost is lower.

There is one change that is now being seen worldwide and that is that the aesthetic ideal for the female breast is soft, supple, much fuller in the lower than the upper pole, and in proportion to the rest of a woman’s figure.  K T Tunstall, the singer, who is obviously flat chested, has confessed in an interview with Blender that she would like to have bigger chest since she saw no change after 13.  But what does she want?  "...only slightly bigger....looks like a pain.....carrying the melons around.  You can't run for buses," she said.  (Related:  Breast augmentation pros and cons)
Since women who undergo cosmetic breast enhancement are not just rich women in their 50s any more, but even young women in their 30's and 40's, they want to undo the damage from pregnancy and lactation. What they want is a more natural look that makes their breasts look like that of a woman in her 20's. While it is no longer an embarrassment to admit having plastic surgery, since so many women have it now, some want to make it less obvious. They just want to keep others guessing. That means a preference for more realistic implant size and generally a combination of breast augmentation with mastopexy (or breast lift).

This can, however, present some problems to women who have real perky and large breasts. That is why someone like Tyra Banks has to often deal with rumors that she has had plastic surgery. In fact to prove that her bosom is real, in an episode of "The Tyra Banks Show," she takes off her bra on the show and lets a plastic surgeon examine her body to announce that she has not gone under the knife.
